In 1911 Mr J Ford became custodian of the Theatre and turned it into a Picture House, first screening silent movies, using the latest Pathé projectors. The Theatre became known as the People’s Popular Picture Palace, with a seating capacity of 970.
The Theatre Royal is the longest continuously operating theatre on the mainland and still shows (good) movies to this day.

    Three years later, Cio-Cio-San and her son, Dolore, see Pinkerton’s ship in the harbour. She excitedly awaits his visit – but when Pinkerton and his American wife Kate arrive and learn about Dolore's existence, they ask to take the boy away, and raise him in America. Cio-Cio-San bids her son farewell and takes her own life.

    Ali is not a citizen. He drives a taxi using another man’s license and relies on the GPS to negotiate his way around a city he doesn’t know. His passenger, Esther is an old woman who can’t remember where she is going. She is angry because she has been stripped of everything that is familiar to her and she doesn't recognise the world anymore. What they are left with is their damage – she can’t remember and he can't forget.

    Profits from ticket sales are being donated to the Mount Alexander Refugee Support Group.
