MILPIRRI : WINDS OF CHANGE, and never before seen outtakes!

Followed by a discussion : "Where are things now?”

Milpirri premiered at the Theatre Royal to a full house, which began a long relationship with the films co-Director, initiated Warlpiri man Wanta Jampijinpa Patrick and Uncle Rick Nelson, Aunty Julie McHale and Kath Coff from Castlemaine’s Nalderun Education Aboriginal Corporation. The film documents the Lajamanu community creating the biennial performance “Milpirri" in Lajamanu Central Australia, it is an exploration of working together between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal artists on many levels. From the performance the film documents, to the creation and behind the scenes relationships between Tracks Dance company in Darwin and the Lajamanu Elders and community, to the collaboration between the Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal filmmakers, “working together” is a major theme. The 55 minute film will screen with extra outtakes that further explore this theme.
Filmmakers Cath South and Stewart Carter, educator and Phd candidate Kath Coff with a link up to Wanta in Lajamanu will speak after the screening. How have things changed in the time since the Theatre Royal's full house preview?

All films are proudly supported by Nalderun Education Aboriginal Corporation and 50% of ticket sales will be donated to Nalderun.
