SPECIAL EVENT – Motherhood In The Colony

Duration:

2h 10m

Director:

Genevieve Grieves, Aseel Tayah

Castlemaine Documentary Festival and Theatre Royal are proud to present Motherhood in the Colony.

In a world shaped by violence and erasure, Motherhood in the Colony brings eight First Nations and Palestinian women together. Through intimate storytelling, the film unravels stories of colonial trauma, and mothering as an act of resistance, while inviting audiences to listen, learn, and envision a future beyond the oppressive structures of colonisation.

A Bukjeh Arts and GARUWA Film, in association with Common Ground. Created on the lands of the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation in Victoria. From the river to the sea. Always was, always will be.

Session times:

Sun 11 May - 7:00pm

Dine in or takeaway pizza Tuesday – Sunday

Semi-sourdough pizza made with organic ingredients and a very little amount of yeast. The magic is in the fermentation process, which takes up to 72 hours. Each pizza is then balled up and hand-stretched to order. We cook our pizza in a 500c oven with a stone floor. The effect is a thin, crisp base with a puffy, leopard-spotted crust. No bookings required.

The Theatre Royal stands on Djaara Country. We acknowledge and pay our respects to the Dja Dja Wurrung people, as traditional custodians of the land, and to their elders past, present and emerging. We extend that respect to all First Nations people and we acknowledge that Aboriginal sovereignty has not been ceded.
